Our Mission
We are empowered by the Holy Spirit to passionately encourage others in their walk with Christ.
Who We Are
Hope Reformed Church has been sharing God's message of love to the community of Parkersburg since 1956. We are a family that has been gathered and held together by the strength of God's grace and we want to make room for others so that God's family can continue to grow.
What We Believe
We believe that all people are made in the image of the Creator God
and are deeply loved by God despite the fact that we all suffer and struggle with sin. We want others to know the truth of God's Word and the freedom and healing that Jesus alone can provide.
We hope you'll join us in our journey as we follow Jesus.
Nate has served as Pastor of Hope Reformed Church since 2017. A native of the area, he grew up on a farm just ten miles from Parkersburg, making this community feel like home. Nate is a graduate of Northwestern College (Orange City, IA) and completed his seminary training at Western Theological Seminary in Holland, MI, where he was ordained into ministry.
As a pastor, Nate emphasizes the importance of God’s grace and encourages genuine, heartfelt expressions of faith. He believes strongly in the potential of smaller congregations and is grateful to be part of what God is doing through Hope Reformed Church.
Nate’s greatest joy and highest calling outside of ministry is being a father to his two sons, Adrian and Jackson. When he's not spending time with his boys or serving the church, he enjoys storytelling in all its forms—whether through movies or music—along with playing card games, running, and playing guitar. And in the fall, you’ll likely find him cheering on his favorite college football teams most Saturdays.
Lacy has been serving as the Administrative Assistant at Hope Reformed Church since 2018. Her work is deeply meaningful to her, as it allows her to support her church family and help others grow in their faith. Prior to joining the staff at Hope, Lacy dedicated her time to caring for her daughter, Olivia, at home.
Lacy and her husband, Travis, were married in 2013 and welcomed Olivia in 2015. Together, they enjoy spending quality time as a family—whether that’s going for walks or bike rides, enjoying a night out at a movie or restaurant, or simply relaxing at home. Lacy became a member of Hope Reformed Church in early 2016 and treasures the close-knit community she’s found here.
Jo grew up on a farm near Aurora, Iowa, and moved to Parkersburg after completing a secretarial course at Gate's Business College. She began working as a secretary and bookkeeper at a local law office, where she remained for an impressive 49 years before retiring.
In 1969, Jo married her late husband, Stan. Together, they raised two sons, Scott and Steve. Today, Jo is a proud mother-in-law and grandmother, blessed with two daughters-in-law and six grandchildren who are an important part of her life.
Jo became a member of Hope Reformed Church in 1972 and has faithfully served in a variety of roles over the years, including as church secretary and treasurer. While she eventually stepped down from some responsibilities to spend more time with her family and be active in her grandchildren’s lives, she continues to volunteer her time as the church’s treasurer.
Her church family holds a special place in her heart, and Jo considers it a true blessing to be part of the Hope community.
Ashley grew up in the Janesville and Cedar Falls area and moved to Parkersburg in 2021. Before joining the staff at Hope Reformed Church, she was a stay-at-home mom to her daughter—a role she deeply treasures.
In 2024, Ashley became a member of Hope, and she now serves as the church’s custodian. Her care for the church building reflects her heart for serving others and creating a welcoming space for the community.
Ashley enjoys singing and playing guitar, watching movies, and spending time outdoors with her family. She also loves to cook and bake—especially for others. For Ashley, feeding people is one of the ways she expresses love and care.
She feels blessed to be part of the Hope family and is grateful to serve in a place that feels like home.
